			<title><![CDATA[ Umbilical infection in older foals? ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ Hey all,<br>I'm currently working at a rather large breeding farm in Ireland, run by a woman who thinks she knows all. I'm supposed to be a working student, but at the moment am kinda of the assistant breeding manager, in charge of foals and breeding. <br>At the moment, we have a foal who has been a bit sick, with some diarrhea and pretty high temperature of 39.1c. She isnt drinking as much as she should be and thus mom's udder is pretty hard. We just noticed her behavior and decline in health in the past hour. Mom has just started showing her first true cycle after foaling, and so that was my impression of why foal has diarrhea, and thus not feeling so hot.. but My boss seems to think that she has an umbilical infection. The stump is not swollen or hot, and baby's behavior is pretty normal other than the temp and diarrhea. My boss seems to think infection because the tip of the umbilical cord has a clear liquid on it. I dont know enough about foals or breeding to be able to make... ]]></description>
