Hi, I have a bit of a situation here. My Pablo yearling filly had something happen to her, I dont know if she colic'd slightly or if she had a virus however she laid down when we had -30 to -35 temperatures. We found her like that and her eyes were all cloudy, We brought her in from the pasture and put her in the barn and all 4 of her legs swolled up like telephone poles and have stayed that way for about 1 1/2 weeks She is now doing better, she has frostbite on her face (lost some hair and the skin has turned black there). One of her legs broke open yesterday and she was ozzing an orangish colored fluid out (and lots of it) Since then I have wrapped her legs and all 4 legs are starting to return to their original size. The hair does not seem to be falling out which is a good sign but I am wondering if anyone has any experience with frostbite and if you can give me any suggestions or expectations. Do you think she may loose her skin or her hooves? I take her for a walk once or twice a day and she seems stiff but not lame if that makes any sense. Thank you anyone for your replies...all comments appreciated.
